GENERAL PRIVACY STATEMENT
Zamro’s Privacy
Commitment
Zamro is committed to protecting the privacy of
its people. The following statement explains Zamro's commitment to
managing personal information and keeping personal information private.
Our functions and responsibilities require us to
collect and handle personal information about our staff and
contractors. We aim at the highest standards in the protection of
privacy and in handling of personal information.
We are required by law to take reasonable steps to
let people know the sort of information we hold, the purposes for which
we collect it, and how we collect, hold, use and disclose that
information. This statement sets out those steps.
Collection of Information
Zamro is a provider of technical, management and
professional services - we deal in information about people in or
related to the telecommunications industry. We retain personal
information about our people to assist in allocating them to particular
projects or positions to fulfil our engagements with our customers, or
to facilitate other services provided to or by us.
For example, when you sign up as a Zamro
contractor, accept or complete a project, or even apply to become a
Zamro contractor, we collect specific personal information about you,
such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, bank
account details, qualifications or career history.
If you choose to do so we may also retain
sensitive information about you such as information about your
membership in a professional or trade association or trade union.
The information you provide is stored on a Zamro
database, currently under development as the Zamro Management System.
Information supplied by you (i.e. your resume) is stored
electronically, perhaps also in a form modified by Zamro, and sometimes
is stored manually as hard copy. Other information relating to work
performed and associated details such as payments is similarly stored.
The Zamro database and other information is located in Melbourne on a
secure computer server. Any hard copy records are usually located in
the Zamro head office, or in the care of Zamro managers.
In addition to the other situations described in
this Privacy Statement, Zamro may collect, use and disclose personal
information in a number of situations:
- if you apply for work or are engaged by Zamro
in any capacity
- if you provide services to Zamro
- if you are involved in an incident or accident
that we must investigate
- if you ask Zamro to give you other information,
or if you provide us with information, make a complaint or otherwise
contact us.
Use and Disclosure of
Information
Your resume is stored on our server and details of
it in our database, but no access is allowed by anyone other than Zamro
personnel. We directly control all access to personal information and
make every reasonable effort to restrict access to our server and
database only to those Zamro personnel who it. You may have your resume
removed from our records or database at any time.
You allow your resume to be used by Zamro when you
submit it to us, unless and until you otherwise advise us. Zamro may
use information from it or the resume itself for the purpose you
submitted it, which may be to provide you directly with work, or for
consideration by employers, recruiters, etc. through whom you may gain
work indirectly.
However, you still have the choice to make your
personal details confidential including some or all of your contact
information, certain associations and your current employment details.
We may also share your information with any of our
related companies.
Third Parties
Zamro provides information about you (i.e. your
resume) to third parties with whom it contracts for services. The use
of your information by these third parties is not within the control of
Zamro, which cannot accept responsibility for their conduct of or for
the retention, use, or privacy of resumes by any third parties.
However, Zamro clients are reputable companies with their own privacy
statements to which you should refer if you have any concerns.
We take all reasonable steps to ensure parties
other than Zamro clients will not, without our consent, gain access to
your information, which is not passed on by Zamro to advertisers or
other third parties with which Zamro does not usually do business or do
not have an acceptable privacy statement.
You may directly contact such third parties if you
have performed services for them and request access to any personal
information they have about you.
Access to Information
Zamro will give you reasonable access to any
personal or employment information we hold about you on request, except
in certain obvious situations which would for example require us to
breach the law or court orders.
You can gain access to the personal information
you have provided by calling or sending an email to Zamro (see contact
details below) or when available by visiting our Web site. A request
for access to the personal information we hold about you, or in
relation to an inquiry about privacy, should ideally be sent to zamro@zamro.com.au
for the attention of the Privacy Officer.
If you have not updated your resume for some time
we may also contact you to check if your information is still correct.
Storage and Security of
Information
Zamro takes all reasonable steps to ensure the
security of our system. Zamro allows you to check your information at
any time to keep it accurate and up to date. Any information which we
hold from or about you (i.e. your resume or our database) is stored on
secure servers that are protected in controlled facilities.
In addition, our employees and the contractors who
provide services related to our information or other systems are
obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held
by Zamro. However, Zamro will not be held responsible and disclaims any
liability for events arising from unauthorized access of your personal
information.
Updating Information
We wish to ensure your personal information is
complete, accurate and up to date. Zamro allows you to change or
correct your personal information at any time. To do so, simply call,
write to or email Zamro and advise any changes. In time you may be able
to log into the Zamro web site and directly edit the information you
have submitted.
Changes to privacy
statement
From time to time, Zamro may review and update its
privacy statements. Revised versions will be updated on the web site or
otherwise advised.
